The learners of Gobabis Gymnasium have been involved in various different things the past couple of weeks:
The U/19 Cricket played various league games the past couple of weeks:
- Tuesday, 10 October vs Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaat Skool. Gobabis Gymnasium won the game. Bowler of the game was Stefan Bezuidenhout, batsman of the game was Altus Opperman.
- Monday, 16 October vs Windhoek High School. Gobabis Gymnasium lost.
The U/11 Cricket team played a game against Windhoek Gymnasium Private School. We won and Stefan du Plessis was player of the game.
The Namspire u/11 team was announced. This team will tour to Cape Town during the first week in December and play various games against different schools. The u/11 boys from Gobabis Gymnasium that made the team are Stefan du Plessis, Jacques Peters, Jan-Sebastiaan Jacobsz, Janco Engelbrect and Liam Derks.
The Voortrekkers give out a grant award to learners at the end of their Primary School career. 4 of our learners received this award. HC van Niekerk and Janita Combrinck received silver awards and Karli Rudolph and Albert Engelbrecht received gold awards.
Otjivero Endurance Club hosted an endurance ride to benefit The Cancer Association. 3 learners took part:
Sone Meeser 80km
Benita Venter 40km
Jonel Coetzee 40km and 60km
During this event Otjivero Endurance Club also had their awards for 2017.
Sone Meeser won Child-rider of the year and was also the highest ranking child-rider for 2017.
Jonel Coetzee was Junior Rider of the year and was also highest ranking junior rider for 2017.
Jan-Hendrik Vermeulen participated in the Pick 'n Pay Cycle Classic in Windhoek on Saturday, 14 October. He rode on a mountain bike and completed the 62km race in 1h 44min.
Ryan Williams took part in the ATKV Quinton Steel Botes Athletics Meet. He Took part in pentathlon and won the devision for high school boys.
